PMHA - BUDGETARY ESTIMATION COSTS for the 2010-2011 Hockey Season

Ice Costs                                                                    $167,705.00

Referee Costs                                                           $  24,775.00

Player/ Coaching Staff Mandatory Insurance         $  21,550.00

Coaches Clinics/ League Fees                              $    9,045.00

Miscellaneous Overhead Expenses                       $    6,785.00

Total                                                                           $ 229,860.00

Ice Costs $118.65 (including HST ) per hour divided by approx. 17 players per (Rep / AE / Tri-County ) team, a cost which equals $6.98 per hour / per player, for one hours ice time.

Therefore, an extra hour of ice per week $6.98 per player x approx. 24 weeks ( 6 months at 4 weeks per month ) = $167.52 (hence the $150 surcharge for Rep/AE and Tri-county teams)

Weekly practice is provided to encourage the Tri-County teams to be competitive with the Tri-County Local League which PMHA has been forced to participate in, due to the lack of  players registered.  The lack of players registered is what affects the number of teams available to play house league in house.  An association would need at least 3-4 house league teams per age group to continue to operate in-house.

House League players registered in the Tri-County Local League last season (2009-2010), received their extra ice at no additional cost to them (money was taken from PMHA reserves ), due to the fact that 2009-2010 registration had already been implemented prior to realizing that Tri-County League was the only option.

At this time, Tri-County players are being asked to pay for the additional 2010-2011 ice costs, for their respective teams.

PMHA Registration has not increased to cover it's operational expenses for the past five years - money has been taken from the reserves, which players/parents have had the benefit from over the past seasons.   The chocolate bar fundraiser and the lotto 400 fundraiser had been dropped the last two seasons, due to the difficulty of implementing these additional monies on our on-line registration system and distributing the physical product / tickets.  The increase now is strictly to cover the operation expenses for the 2010 - 2011 season.

Please keep in mind, that the only source of income for Petrolia Minor Hockey Association is REGISTRATION / FUND-RAISING.  Therefore, these funds need to be provided to cover the costs of operating the Association.

PMHA is also fortunate to be the recipient of the Petrolia Silver Stick Tournament Donation, as well as, the Mark Thompson Memorial Golf Tournament donation.  Without these donations, and support from local team sponsors, registration fees would even be higher.

Let's all work together as a "TEAM" and support Petrolia Minor Hockey Association!

The PMHA, OMHA (boys) and OWHA (girls) constitutions has been removed at this time.  Both constitutions are "under construction", as information that was originally posted was outdated and/or inaccurate.
If anyone has any questions please contact the executive with concerns.

HouseLeague and Tri County Convenor Brian Napper is requesting that any members interested in coaching at this level, from Tyke to Midget, with the exemption of Peewee (this position has been filled) express interest.
Please submit a brief detailed Email to Mr. Napper at napp018@gmail.com  before August 1,2010.

Everyone will need to "create a new account" to register.

News:
HCR (Hockey Canada Registration) finally got back to us and have offered another option on the registration with reguards to fundraising.
Chocolate Bar Fundraiser Option: Pay profit margin ($50) now available.
Option available to families that do not want to sell chocolate bars and wish to pay a non refundable fundraising fee when you register.  For those that have registered, could you please email pmha.hockey@hotmail.com to request a refund of $40, if you would like this option.
  Congratulations!
Pete Lefabvre was named HouseLeague Coach of the Year.  Many thanks for his dedication and efforts to improving an almost fully first year Atom Tri-County Team!
Congratulations on your dedication to the organization!
Mr. and Mrs. Hockey Awards were given at the Annual General Meeting, May 26/10.

Mr. Hockey - John Ferguson - Ice Scheduler.  John spends many long hours scheduling games and assigning practice times to all of our minor hockey teams.  This is a very difficult job to manage given all the variables many people are unaware of.  Many thanks to John for his computer spreadsheet skills and for contributing to our ice times running smoothly!

Mrs. Hockey - Carla Bolton - Gate Keeper.  Carla spends hours scheduling young teenagers to work the doors at our games.  Last minute game cancellations, rescheduling of games, or student illnesses etc. make her job difficult.  No matter the obsticle, Carla shows up before and after every shift to keep things organized with a smile on her face!

Many thanks again to these two individuals, who put forth many more hours than what are required to work off their volunteer cheques!
Clarification on ages and birth years!

  The Olympic Creed:
"The most important thing in the Olympic Games is not to win but to take part, just as the most important thing in life is not the triumph, but the struggle.  The essential thing is not to have conquered, but to have fought well."

Police Checks:

All Coaches, Assistant Coaches, Trainers, Managers and possibly Hockey Moms will have to have police checks done! The forms are on the filing cabinet in the equipment room. They are to fill them out and give them (with a copy of Drivers License & Birth Certificate) back to their respective coaches.

Coaches will then put them in Gary Watson’s file folder. He'll take care of the rest.
