Attention all hockey players, parents and fans:
We have unveiled a new website!
Starting today, you can check it out! www.petroliaminorhockey.com
Please bare with us, as we hurdle the learning curve! We will continue to operate both sites for a period of transition. I will continue to post the latest complete ice schedule on this site for the next couple of weeks (it is on the new site as well). We are in the midst of transferring all other information over to the new site. Many thanks to Noeleen and Ryan for helping in this onerous task! Some typos and info need to be edited or added ... and we were aiming for a deadline of Dec. 1st. Due to the volume of "stuff" and given the fact that we are parents volunteering and running multiple kids to hockey ... working full time jobs ... limited time ...not everything is done to perfection as we would have liked. It is a work in progress! Over the last month, most teams sent a representative to a training session. Each team can now manage their own site with news, info, pictures etc. I will continue to manage the overall site and help others along. Noeleen is looking for sponsors to advertise on our webpages and is continuing to enter graphics of our various team sponsors. Ryan has helped with the data entry of our new schedule ... benefits being you could combine multiple schedules for one family. Also, you can sign up for a text or email message to make you aware of ice schedule changes instantly. The rush was on for our silverstick committee to use the new website for their tournament over the Christmas holidays ... in which we hope all of our families come out to support! It was not ideal to switch at this time, however due to a number of variables it was decided to make the jump. So please check both sites regularly during this time of transition.
Yours in hockey,
Charlotte Wright Boyd - email email@example.com

||Looking for a new "Ice Scheduler" for next year. John Ferguson has done this job for the last 3 years and will be finished at the end of this season. We need to start training someone to give them the "big picture" of all the variables involved with scheduling all 18 of our teams for games, tournaments and practices...not an easy job! If there is someone within our association that has computer skills, website management skills, experience with spreadsheets and great communication skills please inquire to Kari Lupton at firstname.lastname@example.org or Charlotte Wright Boyd at email@example.com. This job would ofcourse cancel your volunteer cheques. It is our hope to get someone in line ASAP so that they can work along side John right now and see if we can improve our system for next year and have a smooth transition.|

ATTENTION BANTAM DIVISION
September 15, 2010
Dear Bantam Players and Parents:
Please be advised that due to unforeseen circumstances with our Bantam registration numbers, we are offering only a Rep and AE team for the upcoming 2010/2011 season. We have 38 players registered for our Bantam Division and these numbers field teams of 17 skaters and 2 goalies per team. As an executive, we feel that this may not be an ideal situation for players, parents and coaches and are unable to divide these numbers further to add a Tri-county team. During the 2009/2010 season, we did roster three small teams in the Bantam division, however found that this was not successful venture.
Therefore, our executive has been in contact with Mooretown Minor Hockey Association and they have indicated that they are fielding two Tri-County teams (currently 12 players per team) and would welcome the opportunity for any of our Bantam players who would prefer to play Tri-County to join the Mooretown team for the 2010/2011 season. We regret having to offer this option to our Petrolia players however our intention is for you to have a fun and successful hockey season and feel this may be a positive option at this time.
Please contact Lauri Doig, Registrar at firstname.lastname@example.org or 519-882-8703 if you wish to participate in the Mooretown Tri-County teams for the upcoming season. Should you choose this option, P.M.H. A. wishes you well during the upcoming season and look forward to welcoming you back to Petrolia Minor Hockey next season.
Thank you for your understanding and consideration,
P.M.H. A. Executive

Total . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . $ 229,860.00
Ice Costs $118.65 (including HST ) per hour divided by approx. 17 players per (Rep / AE / Tri-County ) team, a cost which equals $6.98 per hour / per player, for one hours ice time.
Therefore, an extra hour of ice per week $6.98 per player x approx. 24 weeks ( 6 months at 4 weeks per month ) = $167.52 (hence the $150 surcharge for Rep/AE and Tri-county teams)
Weekly practice is provided to encourage the Tri-County teams to be competitive with the Tri-County Local League which PMHA has been forced to participate in, due to the lack of players registered. The lack of players registered is what affects the number of teams available to play house league in house. An association would need at least 3-4 house league teams per age group to continue to operate in-house.
House League players registered in the Tri-County Local League last season (2009-2010), received their extra ice at no additional cost to them (money was taken from PMHA reserves ), due to the fact that 2009-2010 registration had already been implemented prior to realizing that Tri-County League was the only option.
At this time, Tri-County players are being asked to pay for the additional 2010-2011 ice costs, for their respective teams.
PMHA Registration has not increased to cover it's operational expenses for the past five years - money has been taken from the reserves, which players/parents have had the benefit from over the past seasons. The chocolate bar fundraiser and the lotto 400 fundraiser had been dropped the last two seasons, due to the difficulty of implementing these additional monies on our on-line registration system and distributing the physical product / tickets. The increase now is strictly to cover the operation expenses for the 2010 - 2011 season.
Please keep in mind, that the only source of income for Petrolia Minor Hockey Association is REGISTRATION / FUND-RAISING. Therefore, these funds need to be provided to cover the costs of operating the Association.
PMHA is also fortunate to be the recipient of the Petrolia Silver Stick Tournament Donation, as well as, the Mark Thompson Memorial Golf Tournament donation. Without these donations, and support from local team sponsors, registration fees would even be higher.
Let's all work together as a "TEAM" and support Petrolia Minor Hockey Association!

Pete Lefabvre was named HouseLeague Coach of the Year. Many thanks for his dedication and efforts to improving an almost fully first year Atom Tri-County Team!
Congratulations on your dedication to the organization!
Mr. and Mrs. Hockey Awards were given at the Annual General Meeting, May 26/10.
Mr. Hockey - John Ferguson - Ice Scheduler. John spends many long hours scheduling games and assigning practice times to all of our minor hockey teams. This is a very difficult job to manage given all the variables many people are unaware of. Many thanks to John for his computer spreadsheet skills and for contributing to our ice times running smoothly!
Mrs. Hockey - Carla Bolton - Gate Keeper. Carla spends hours scheduling young teenagers to work the doors at our games. Last minute game cancellations, rescheduling of games, or student illnesses etc. make her job difficult. No matter the obsticle, Carla shows up before and after every shift to keep things organized with a smile on her face!
Many thanks again to these two individuals, who put forth many more hours than what are required to work off their volunteer cheques!
